Extending The Range And Versatility of Your Remote with An IR Extender Cable

An IR, or Infra-Red, extender cable, also known as an Infra-Red Eye Extension, lets you point your remote control at the IR Eye sensor instead of directly at your TV. This gives you more range and versatility with your remote.

Here are some uses for an IR extender cable:

Control external devices

You can use the Smart Touch Control on your TV to control connected external devices.

Control devices behind obstacles

You can transmit the infrared signal directly to your devices, even when they're closed away in cabinets.

Control devices in direct sunlight

You can use an IR extender cable if your room has significant direct sunlight on your home theater equipment.

To use an IR extender cable, you can:

Plug one end of the cable into your TV.

Position the other end somewhere open and away from obstacles that might block the IR signal.

Place the small round box at the end of the cable in front of the IR panel of your cable box, satellite TV receiver, or home theater.

IR extender cables have two active components: a receiver and an emitter. The receiver captures the IR command code, and the emitter duplicates the IR command code.

Overcoming Line of Sight Limitations: The Benefits of Using An IR Extender Cable

An infrared (IR) extender cable, also known as an Infra-Red Eye Extension, allows you to point your remote control at an IR Eye sensor instead of directly at your TV. This gives you more range and versatility with your remote.

IR remotes use IR signals to communicate, which only work through the line of sight and can fail when something is disrupting that line of sight. An IR extender can route the IR signal from your remote control so you are still able to control your devices, even when they're closed away in cabinets or otherwise obstructed.

Here are some scenarios where you might want to use an IR extender cable:

  • You're doing a clean installation on a television on a wall, and you hide your AV equipment maybe in the media cabinet underneath or in a nearby closet
  • You have a second television in another room on your deck in your garage, and you want to control those devices with your remote from the remote location
  • You're having trouble controlling your home theater from Xbox One

To use an IR extender cable, you can:

1. plug one end of the cable into your TV

2. position the other end somewhere open and away from obstacles that might block the IR signal

3. place the small round box at the end of the cable in front of the IR panel of your cable box, satellite TV receiver, or home theater

How Much Voltage Does An Infrared LED Have?

1.2 VdcThe T-1 ¾ through-hole infrared 5mm LED is a very bright LED with a 20mW maximum brightness. Its drive current is 20mA and its usual forward voltage is 1.2Vdc. The 5mm clear lens has a half angle of 30° when projecting light.

On A Cable Box, Where Is The Infrared Sensor?

Usually located behind a dark plastic panel, the infrared sensor on the box has a cone-shaped shape. If you do not know where it is on your set top box, find it using a flashlight.

Which IR Input Is It?

An electrical connection that transmits and receives data via infrared light is known as an infrared port. These ports were once often utilized by wireless devices to facilitate quick and simple communication with base stations, other equipment, and networked devices.

IR Proximity Sensors: What Are They?

IR, short for infrared, uses an infrared light beam to detect the presence of an object. While infrared radiation is transmitted in place of sound waves, it functions similarly to ultrasonic sensors. An IR LED for emission and a light detector for reflection detection make up an infrared proximity sensor.

What Is The Protocol for IR?

IR is protocol-encoded as a string of pulses and spaces. These protocols can encode commands that tell a device what to do and addresses that tell it how to react. For a given protocol, the values for these aren't always the same amongst devices.

How Can I Inspect My Infrared Emitter?

A visible light source, like a red or infrared LED, on the device can be used to identify an active infrared emitter.Instead,Using an infrared-sensitive camera, like a thermal imaging camera, is an additional method.Instead,To find the infrared light that the device emits, you can alternatively utilize a detector.Instead,Additional things...

Describe What Is Meant by IR Hardware.

An infrared transceiver is a feature that some Android devices have. They are therefore capable of sending and receiving infrared signals, which is what your average TV remote control does. This enables Unified Remote to be used to operate TVs, steros, and other devices. IR is only compatible with specific Android devices.

Describe An Infrared Emitter Diode.

Solid state light sources called Infrared Emitting Diodes (IREDs) emit light in the near-infrared region of the spectrum. The response peak of silicon photodiodes and phototransistors is closely matched to the emission wavelength. A wide variety of lens and power output options are available with this product line.

What's The Difference between RF And IR?

There are two types of energy utilized in remote controllers to send commands: IR, or infrared, and RF, or radio frequency. RF uses radio waves, while infrared light is a type of light that is invisible to the human eye.

How Does An IR Blaster Differ from An IR?

An IR blaster, also called an infrared blaster, on the other hand, is a gadget that uses infrared signals to operate other gadgets, such TVs, set-top boxes, or other home entertainment equipment. An IR blaster is used to emit infrared signals, while an IR sensor is used to receive them.

Chris

Our living room TV stand needed to be childproofed. My audio receiver and TV box were hidden from the TV remote view by sliding cabinet doors, but our child managed to open them, and we didn't want to risk pinching fingers or having equipment pulled out on top of him. fitted a kid safety lock on the door, mounted a single repeater light inside, and placed a sensor near the television. Everything is now hidden and safe and functions perfectly. In all honesty, the control seems to function better now, so I assume that either the repeater emits a brighter IR blast or it is more sensitive to receiving the original signal because, unlike before, when you had to aim precisely, it now appears to function regardless of circumstances. Would buy this again in the event that I needed it!

Performs flawlessly as it should. It took me a few minutes to figure it out, but once I did, I did very great. I only wish there had been instructions.

Shoeless

Worked as advertised. Now my receiver is tucked away in a cabinet.
